The false experiment
The test situation consisted of a large wooden box with hinges, mounted on an upright. When opened it showed two cut away parts at the bottom, which formed a circular opening as it was closed. The setup was completed by a wooden block to sit on. There were several lying around of different sizes, to accommodate each and every next test person.
When the heavy wooden box was closed shut it locked out all sound. With her upper body encaged in it, the test person would only experience total silence and darkness for the first five minutes. After that a dim light would shine from the inside top of the box. There would be a soft humming sound and in front of her several small digital screenes would spring to life.
